YouTube of the day: More tubes!

Back in July I posted a comedy central bit about Senator Stevens being his jack-ass self, that is, showing how stupid he is, reguarding Net Neutraility. Today, I found that someone had put together a litle video that mixes some tunes with with Senator Stevens blabbing about the internet is a series of tubes. The first part of the video is really neat, it repeats itself a bit too much.

Net neutrality, summarized

There's a great article over at Howstuffworks.com that breaks down net neutrality that is easily understandable. Every one should read this article in it's entirety.

Washington state bans material about internet gambling

Great article over at Seattle Times about a new law in Washington state that bans media that promotes or discusses gambling - including internet gambling.

Apparently, two magazines that cover gambling are no longer distributing their magazine subscriptions to residents of Washington. It's unclear if the state has brought action against the distributor or if the distributor pulled the magazine before any legal actions were taken.

So, you folks in Washington - Big deal, you can't read about gambling as it's against the law, you dun' need to stinkin' free thought. Perhaps you should just start buring the flag instead.

Senator Stevens and Net Neutrality

I few weeks ago I posted about Net Neutrality and how important it is. Here's some quotes from Senator Stevens about the internet. What a complete dumbass.

You can also hear more audio of Senator Stevens blabber; there's also some blogging there too. Listening to his speach, he sounds like he had a few nips from his flask before hand.

Fortunatly, there's an organization over at Freepress.Net fighting for Net Neutrality - keeping the internet free. Check them out!

Net Neutrality

Net neutrality has been getting a lot of press lately. In a nut shell, big ISPs (Comcast, ATT, Verizon) that bring internet into your home want more money because they spent alot of money bringing the internet connections to you. They want to sell you their content, and make getting other companies content slow.

Companies that provide content (Microsoft, Yahoo!, Google) argue that this two-tier system will make non-ISP content slow, and perheps unavailable.

Read the first few paragraphs at Wikipedia on "Net Neutrality".

The first few articles on a Google search may also provide some insight.

Take action, write to your congress person and let them know how you feel on this issue. Keep the internet free!
