Does it matter?
Jun 11, 09Found this poem in 1994, and remains my favorite to this day.
Does It Matter?
My parents asked me if I am gay
I said, "Does it matter?"
They said, "No, not really."
I told them, "Yes."
They said, "Get out of our lives."
I guess it mattered.
My boss asked me if I am gay.
I said, "Does it matter?"
He said, "No, not really."
I told him, "Yes."
He said, "You're fired, faggot."
I guess it mattered.
My friend asked me if I am gay.
I said, "Does it matter?"
He said, "No, not really."
I told him, "Yes."
He said, "Don't call me your friend."
I guess it mattered.
My partner asked, "Do you love me?"
I said, "Does it matter?"
He said, "Yes."
I told him, "I love you."
He said, "Let me hold you in my arms."
For the first time in my life something matters.
My God asked, "Do you love yourself?"
I said, "Does it matter?"
He said, "Yes."
I asked, "How can I love myself? I am gay."
He said, "That's the way I made you."
Nothing again will ever matter.

Gay couple not paying taxes
Jul 12, 06There's a rebel gay couple back east in N.C. not filing or paying any taxes. They feel, and I agree with them, that they should not be taxed without represenation or the benefits of straight people.
I agree with them, and if I could afford it, I would do the same thing. They are, however, millionaires and can afford to do such things. They have started a website at http://www.gaytax.org.
I would have to re-evaluate my position if the constitution was ever ammended banning same sex marriage.
Police brutality against gays in New Mexico
Jul 10, 06New Mexico, which is known for it's amazing landscapes and friendly people, has shown it's ugly side as disturbing news comes of gay-bashing police officers. Apparently, a gym (which caters to gay people) was having a party, and has been accused serving alchohol without a license. The way in which police officers handled the raid is what is disturbing. Patrons were forced to lay on the floor at gun point while the police searched the facility. How many times have you seen this happen at the local art gallery where they serve wine?
Sacramento Gay Hero
Jul 05, 06I saw this a few weeks ago, but forgot to post it. There's a a truck with huge signs displaying anti-homosexual messages. It's really hard to miss, the signs are about 8 foot tall. I don't have a picture of it, sorry. Anyways, check out the full article over at Sacramento News & Review website.

Gay blood bad?
Jul 03, 06So, is gay blood really bad? It's being debated over in Australia (see news clip).
At my work, the local blood letting motorhome pulls up and collects blood every other month or so. However, if you're gay, they don't want your blood either. This may change too in America. I guess we can give life, but we still can't married.
Also, according to the Red Cross, the blood supply is very low and is always in search for donors. Perhaps if they allowed everyone who was STD free to donate, they would have a larger pool of blood.
Gay cruise anyone? Sept of 2007
Jun 29, 06A bunch of us were talking, and we've decided to book a cruise with RSVP Vacations for their Alaskan cruise in September 2007.
Going to on an Alaskan cruise is more about the scenery of the glaciers and the mountains, rather than the parties of the Mexican Riviera, the Caribbean, or the Mediterranean. Those are all fun too (so I've heard), but everyone that has been on the Alaskan cruise said it was just amazing... That, I figure I better see the glaciers before they melt. Anyways, if you're interested in going, check out RSVP Vacations. Let me know if you need someone to room with, I'll find ya someone. :-) Use the Mail Me link on the left side.
SF Pride weekend
Jun 28, 06WOW! I had a ton of fun this weekend! There was a large group of us, and that made all the difference. So, a shout out to all those that put up with me this weekend.
Our weekend started out atypical. Twelve of us were in the hotel drinking and chatting on Friday nite - mentally preparing for what was to happen next! Underwear night at a local SF club.
A few cocktails and your typical jarring taxi cab later, we arrive at the club. There, outside, they have an area setup to strip down to your undies - on the sidewalk. Granted it was in a tent like structure, but nothing is ever going to top stripping down to your undies with a bunch of your friends on a sidewalk along with a bunch of strangers; dare I mention some of whom should not have been there? This puts a whole new twist on "side-walk sale".
Stepping into the club, there was alot of eye candy, and the music was okay. One more drink, and I was set for the night.
Looking back, a few people didn't have fun, however they did admit to having some higher expectations which may be been a little far reaching. HOWEVER, enough of us did have fun to say that the event as a whole was great.
I never thought I would ever do anything like that, but now I can say that I have. I may consider going to another one again. The only thing I didn't like about it was the music wasn't that great - but then again, I like diva dance music. :-)
Left the club Saturday morning around 4am. Got a taxi cab back to the hotel and crashed. Woke up bright and early Saturday.....afternoon. Breakfast at 2pm then it was off to Civic Center to check things out. Fairly dead, stayed for an hour. Got free ride back on Muni to the hotel since we still had time left.
After our 2 hour disco nap, we all met up again for dinner. Afterwards, we went back to the hotel for a few more drinks, then it was off to the Castro Street Pink Party.
It was your typical major intersection-traffic-snarling-multi-block gay street party. Market street was blocked off starting a few blocks down from Castro. There was lots of music everyone, and of course, people packed the streets as if it were Pink Mardi Gras.
That night, I met alot of people, our group met alot of people. Eventually, one of these people would take our rather large group (8) back to their apt for more drinks and chat for a couple of hours. All in all, it was a great night.
Two interesting times for me were: 1) Lance and I doing shots with lesbians at our hotel Friday night; which interrupted our foraging for ice for the cocktails we were brewing in the hotel room and 2) meeting some stranger at pink party and going back to his place to do (guess) more shots.
I have to admit, there are few lapses of memory - or at the minimum; times that are kind of hazy. For example, I don't remember stripping down to my undies at the undie party. The pre-party at the hotel obviously did it's job - but I think the shot with the lesbians helped. Secondly, there's a new number in my cell phone - I wish I knew who it was, I guess I should just call it.
Also, I didn't carry my camera around. I know some of you did, and I'd love to see pictures - please e-mail them to me and I'll post them.
Right now, I have just this one to show you. I'll post again once I have received some more photos.
Cheers!
